The Area
This area’s first substantial development of residential project was called Whampoa Garden and it was built in the late 1980’s. It continued to develop and expanded to include hotels, service apartments and commercial buildings around Hung Hom’s KCR station. There are now large well-known residential developments such as Laguna Verde, Royal Peninsula, and the Waterfront Landmark which are popular among the local middle class and the Japanese expatriate residents.
Transportation
KCR, busses and ferries serve the area very well offering residents’ easy access to the rest of Kowloon Peninsula, Hong Kong Island, the airport and China.
Schools
15 minutes from the area in Kowloon Tong are the well known King George V, The American International School, and an ESF high school.
Leisure, Entertainment, Shopping
Being largely a residential area, there are no substantial leisure facilities within the districts. Residents enjoy exclusive in-house facilities within their developments and there are ample local stores and shops as well as Jusco (Japanese) department store.
