The Area
Kwun Tong is located in the eastern part of Kowloon peninsula and boundaries stretch from Lion Rock in the north, Lei Yue Mun to the south, winding paths of Kowloon park to the east and the old Kai Tak airport in the west. Recent surveys have shown that it has the third largest population where an average density is 55,000/km2 as well as an overall below average income. It developed from the 1950’s into the main manufacturing area of Hong Kong where many light industrial manufacturing such as textiles were produced. Many of the factories now are being redeveloped into commercial buildings particularly in the area and areas in the vicinity such as Kowloon Bay, Kwun Tong and Yau Tong areas. To accommodate the needs of the ever increasing population and the elderly, medical, housing and educational facilities and services are in greater demand as well as a number of community development projects such as parks, clinics and community centers. Ngau Tau kok, upper Kwun Tong, Sau Mau Ping and Lam Tin are the major residential areas of Kwun Tong. 54% of the population lives in pubic housing estates, 13% live in HOS developments, 4% live in private sector participation schemes estates and private housing. With the regeneration of the area, there is a newer and fresher look. The United Christian hospital and 9 other community centers are located in the area.
Transportation
The area is serviced by the Kwun Tong line and the Tsueng Kwan O MTR line.
Schools
The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians Siu Ming Catholic secondary school、Buddhist Sin Tak College. Leisure, Entertainment, Shopping
APM Millennium City 5 opened in April 2005 as well as Mega Box which offer shopping arcades, restaurants, clothing and cosmetics and Cineplex for all aspects of entertainment value.
