This area¡¦s first substantial development of residential project was called Whampoa Garden and it was built in the late 1980¡¦s. It continued to develop and expanded to include hotels, service apartments and commercial buildings around Hung Hom¡¦s KCR station. There are now large well-known residential developments such as Laguna Verde, Royal Peninsula, and the Waterfront Landmark which are popular among the local middle class and the Japanese expatriate residents.
