In addition to the extensive public hospital facilities, there are also 12 private hospitals which work in partner with the public hospitals and other health support groups. Private hospitals have a very different pay scale, but the waiting time is minimal compared with the public hospital and the quality of the service is among the best.

Although the Hong Kong health care system is known to provide quality service, it is strongly recommended for people who are visiting as well as those who reside in Hong Kong to have immunization against infections common in Hong Kong such as hepatitis B.
