This area’s first substantial development of residential project was called Whampoa Garden and it was built in the late 1980’s. It continued to develop and expanded to include hotels, service apartments and commercial buildings around Hung Hom’s KCR station. There are now large well-known residential developments such as Laguna Verde, Royal Peninsula, and the Waterfront Landmark which are popular among the local middle class and the Japanese expatriate residents.

KCR, busses and ferries serve the area very well offering residents’ easy access to the rest of Kowloon Peninsula, Hong Kong Island, the airport and China.
