Ma Wan is located between Tsing Yi and Lantau Island. It belongs to the Tsuen Wan district and has an area of about 0.96km2. The former fishing village which dates 250 years was only accessible by ferry and boats, but as part of the Hong Kong government plan, the Lantau link was constructed on the mid 1990’s to connect the new Hong Kong international airport to the city center. A large part of the island is occupied by the Sun Hun Kai development, Park Island residential complex, which services much of the island residents with facilities.

The island is connected to Tsing Yi by the Tsing Ma Bridge and to Lantau Island by the Kap Shui Mun Bridge. Park Island Transportation Co. Ltd operates bus services between Park Island and Tsing Yi MTR station and Man Wan Kwai Fong. Ferry services are available between Ma Wan and Central, serviced by high speed catamarans. Shuttle Bus services are also available to the Tsuen Wan west KCR station, the Tsing Yi MTR station and the Maritime Shopping center, both within 15min. distance and to Tsing Yi MTR station and Kwai Fong 24 hours a day.
