The area of Shouson Hill, Deep Water Bay, Repulse Bay, Chung Hom Kok, Stanley and Tai Tam comprise the South Side. Many American and European expatriates escape from the hustle and bustle of the city to the fresh air, beaches and stunning sea views of this area. There is great variety of rental properties available in this area, from large high-rise apartment complexes to low-rises and luxury houses.

While there are a number of buses, mini buses, and shuttle buses running on the South Side, many expatriates may choose to commute by car. Most commute to work west through the Aberdeen Tunnel, while others commute east through Chai Wan. For Shopping, there are a number of buses en-route to the ever famous Stanley Market.
